C-H-A-N-G-E-S & {Giveaway}

This is a story all about how my life got twisted upside down...
...it's really not that serious, but now you're singing the theme song to Fresh Prince of Bel-Air so #missionaccomplished

This 2016-2017 school year brought some cha-cha-changes! Aaaaand now the 2017-2018 school year is bringing more cha-cha-changes!

Before we talk about THOSE changes, can we appreciate my design changes?! Amazing. Alexis from Laugh Eat Learn did a stellar job and I couldn't be happier. I put a lot of faith in her as a designer to lead the way and then we would make adjustments/tweaks from there. She was so awesome to work with and I can't stop looking at my blog!

Now, back to these other changes I was talking about...

You may or may not know that this school year (2016-2017) I was at a new school. As a result of a move I was making a 59 minute (per GPS) commute to work EACH way. For some people I realize that's no biggie, but where we live, people think you're crazy if you're commuting that far. And it was difficult. I really didn't like losing 2 hours of my day on the road. So, I finished out last school year and found a job closer to home, with just a 30 minute commute.

Long story short (as possible) we moved from DE ---> MD. I wanted to keep my sick days, etc with the state of DE, so in order for me to do that the shortest commute I could have is 30 minutes each way. Not terrible, so I took it.

I was very unhappy this school year. There were MANY times when I didn't think I was going to make it to the end, but I ended the year just hanging on by my fingernails.

With a lot of serious consideration, I decided to apply for my position with my previous school district. Yes. You read that correctly. I left because of the 1 hour commute and here I am applying for that 1 hour commute again. A teacher was retiring and I felt it was now or never. There aren't frequent openings on my previous school and I didn't want to miss this opportunity.

I applied. I interviewed. I accepted! I am THRILLED. I will be returning to my previous position as a special education pre-k teacher for the 2017-2018 school year!

This past year taught me SO MANY things. I look back on this experience with no regrets and view it as life teaching us things the hard way.

After 6 years in special ed. pre-k, I was pretty burnt out and looking for something different. I certainly got different this year! Now I am excited and feeling rejuvenated to re-turn to pre-k! I also had to promise I wouldn't make ANY complaints about the drive. ha!

  1. Congratulations! I, too, left pre-k for a year to teach another grade and quickly came back the following year. It was a great learning experience but also made me really miss working with Early Childhood students.
