In this post I mentioned how I like to sketch out my ideas for a bulletin board to help me plan what I want and need. Well all my sketching has led me to need several things: 1 jellyfish, 1 octopus, 1 sand castle, and 1 sun. That list could still grow at this point, but for now that's where we stand.
One of my first few days on pinterest I came across this photo:
(original photo from here.)
I thought this would be a perfect solution to the lack of ocean themed job bulletin board sets I was finding. This octopus was cut out on bulletin board paper and laminated. The more I thought about it I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to make my octopus as large as I wanted it & still be able to laminate it. [Insert an abundance of foam board]
I was in Michael's and found foam board 50% off and then I had a coupon for 20% off your entire purchase including sale items. *perfect* (remember, I said I never go there without a coupon in hand!)
So far I have made my jellyfish:
I plan on using my jellyfish on my word wall bulletin board at this point.
And my octopus:
The octopus will be used for our classroom jobs. I am planning on using these buckets and shovels from Miss Kindergarten for my jobs. I liked the idea of the octopus AND her buckets and shovels, so I figured, why not? An octopus can hold buckets!
I feel like my octopus is missing something though. Hopefully I'll be able to show you what these look like on my bulletin boards very soon!

That is super cute! Thanks for the idea. I am doing a safari theme this year, so maybe I can do a giraffe for the jobs. I am super excited to get started on that! :)
A giraffe would be so much fun! And using foam board is great! It's durable for a bulletin board and you'll have to use over and over again!
Another cute idea for a safari theme (and this could be jobs or birthdays) would be palm tree(s) with swinging monkeys!
Wow! Super cute :-)
